Delhi liquor policy case: Manish Sidodia gets three-day bail to attend a niece’s wedding.
Manish Sisodia, a senior Aam Aadmi Party leader detained for his suspected role in the Delhi excise policy scam case, was granted three days’ interim parole by a city court on Monday to attend his niece’s wedding.
Between February 13 and 15, special judge M.K. Nagpal awarded relief to the former deputy chief minister.
Sisodia was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation on February 26, 2023, for his alleged involvement in the corruption case. On February 28, he resigned from the Delhi Cabinet.
On March 9, 2023, the Enforcement Directorate detained the AAP leader in a money-laundering case based on the CBI FIR after questioning him in Tihar Jail.
The lawsuit involves charges that the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which grants licences to liquor traders, promoted cartelization and favoured specific dealers who reportedly paid bribes for it, a charge that the AAP has frequently denied.
The policy was then discontinued, and the Delhi lieutenant governor suggested a CBI investigation, which prompted the ED to file a case under the PMLA.
