YouTube appears to be going all out to keep its premium users entertained and to entice more Premium subscribers. Following the launch of ad-free streaming, the Google-owned company is also offering minigames to Premium subscribers. YouTube Playables, a new and innovative platform feature, integrates gaming into the video streaming experience.

Google first made the Playables feature available on YouTube in September. The feature has been in an experimental phase since then. It is, however, now available to YouTube Premium subscribers. This new feature gives Premium members access to a library of online games that can be played directly from the mobile or desktop app. There is no need for any further downloads or installations. Premium subscribers have access to 37 minigames that are smoothly incorporated into the YouTube experience.

According to reports, YouTube is informing its viewers about the new Playables function. According to Droid Life, several YouTube Premium customers were notified about Playables last week. Users who opt in receive access to a library of minigames that may be played within the site. According to the research, the Playables games are not extremely complex or esoteric, and include popular titles such as Angry Birds Showdown, Brain Out, Daily Solitaire, The Daily Crossword, and a range of arcade games.

These games’ availability, however, may be limited. According to the announcement on YouTube Premium, the games will be available until March 28th, 2024. Meanwhile, Premium users can access the whole library of games via the Explore tab’s “Playables” section.

The YouTube Playables rollout has begun, and many users have already gained access. Its availability has also been confirmed by India Today Tech. The method of accessing Playables is quick and clear for YouTube Premium subscribers.

  • Open the YouTube app and navigate to the profile section.
  • Locate the “Your Premium Benefits” section and tap on it.
  • Select “Try experimental new features.”

Upon completing these steps, the new games section, including YouTube Playables, will be accessible within the YouTube app. For those who haven’t received the update yet, be patient as it may take a few more weeks to roll out to all users. YouTube Playables is currently available on both Android and iOS mobile apps.

Meanwhile, YouTube is not the sole platform offering diverse content beyond video streaming, Netflix has also introduced in-app games to engage subscribers and foster customer loyalty. These games are available at no additional cost to all Netflix subscribers, free from ads and in-app purchases.

Netflix’s gaming library boasts over 50 titles, with new additions made regularly. A significant portion of these games are exclusive to the platform. Some of the notable games available on Netflix include, Hextech Mayhem, Money Heist, Shadow and Bone: Enter the Fold, Chicken Run: Eggstraction, and The Dragon Prince: Xadia. Netflix games are accessible on Android and Apple iOS smartphones and tablets. Additionally, Netflix offers cloud gaming on smart TVs and TV-connected devices.
