PM Modi robs youths of their livelihoods by selling government-run companies to handpicked businessmen: Priyanka Gandhi

Bhopal, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, accusing him of stealing the livelihoods of the country’s youth by selling government-run enterprises and institutions to select businesspeople.

Priyanka Gandhi stated that the Congress regimes established industries to offer jobs for the nation’s youth, but the BJP Government at the Centre sold all public enterprises, which is their (BJP) strategy of handing over management of Government-run companies to businessmen.

Addressing a poll rally in the Madhya Pradesh district of Indore, the Congress leader said the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s vision for institutions like the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was to move the country forward.

“The Congress brought IIM and big hospitals like AIIMS, but it has become the BJP’s policy to hand over Government-run companies to industrialists and take out the money from people’s kitty,” Priyanka Gandhi stated. She went on to say that “people should evaluate between the BJP and the Congress’ policies.”

Priyanka Gandhi, criticizing the BJP-led Centre for the state of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), claimed that government-run enterprises had been entrusted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s businessman buddies.

“There is privatisation of jobs, pension of the government employees has been stopped and employees wonder what happened to their money,” she went on to say.

“Prime Minister Modi claims that nothing has changed in the last 70 years of Congress rule.” The Congress built the school that Modi ji attends. “I’m not sure if Modi ji went to college, but the certificate of his degree in – entire political science – must have been printed by the Congress’ computer,” she continued.

The Congress General Secretary stated that her father, Rajiv Gandhi, was prime minister at the time and intended to bring computers into the country. “But such people had opposed it,” she remarked, presumably referring to Modi.

Gandhi repeated the Congress’ election promises while speaking at the event. She stated that if the Congress were to gain control of the state, it would provide a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,600 for wheat and Rs 2,500 for paddy, a farm loan waiver, free electricity up to 100 units and half the tariff up to 200 units of usage, an old pension scheme for government employees, Rs 500 for LPG cylinders, and 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC).

She also cited some of the party’s other promises, such as a caste census, the filling of two lakh government jobs, price waivers for recruitment examinations, and free education up to Class 12 along with scholarships.
